Screening of wild strawberry germplasm for iron-deficiency tolerance under hydroponic conditions

چکیده

Cultivated strawberry has been originated from hybridization between Fragaria chiloensis and F. virginiana. The progenitor species exhibit significant genetic diversity. Growth attributes of their responses to several stress factors have studied. However, iron-deficiency tolerance (FeDT) different merely tested under hydroponic conditions. This study evaluated FeDT 23 genotypes belonging super-seed collection Two (one Fe-deficiency-tolerant one sensitive) were selected screening experiment physiological morphological mechanisms playing role in determined. Plant parameters associated with FeDT, i.e., pH the growth medium, root Fe reductase activity, total active concentration shoot was recorded. Fe-efficiency subspecies varied 51 98%. efficiency values also among subspecies. AukeLake RCP37 highly resistant sensitive Fe-deficiency, respectively based on values. A relationship observed genotypes. Acidification nutrient solution activity closely related high iron concentration. Our findings indicated existence a close uptake root-to-shoot translocation Fe, which ultimately contribute greatly

Characterization and Field Performance of 15 Strawberry Germplasm under Bangladesh Conditions

Fifteen strawberry germplasm collected from local and exotic sources were evaluated for different qualitative and quantitative characters. The germplasm showed variation for majority of the studied traits. Plant height during peak harvest ranged from 14.67 to 25.00 cm and FA 007 exhibited the tallest plants. The maximum number of leaves plant was produced by FA 006 (46.67). The maximum number o...

Screening for iron deficiency.

Introduction Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency in the world, responsible for a staggering amount of ill health, lost productivity, and premature death. Although its prevalence in the United States has declined since the late 1960s, iron deficiency with or without anemia still is seen frequently in infants, toddlers, adolescent females, and women of childbearing age. In f...

Rapid Hydroponic Screening of Crops for Aluminium Tolerance

Aluminium toxicity is a major crop production constraint, particularly in acid tropical soils. The toxicity is aggravated when pH falls below 5.5 since toxic monomeric Al species get solubilized. The screening of Al tolerance intrinsically depends on culture medium, with a nutrient solution having pH of 4.5 being recommended. Hydroponic experiment was carried out at Jomo Kenyatta University of ...

Evaluation of grain yield and repeatability of drought tolerance indices for screening chickpea (Cicer aritinum L.) genotypes under rainfed conditions

In order to identify drought tolerant chickpea genotypes, an experiment was conducted in the west of Iran, during 2007-2009 cropping seasons. Several selection indices were used to illustrate genotypic differences in response to drought stress. The results of combined analysis of variance showed that year, genotype, stress conditions and their interaction effects were highly significant. Correl...
